Welcome from Mrs Gail Armstrong PDF Print E-mail

Welcome to Alexandra Hills State High School.

Our leafy campus provides a learning environment where students are both challenged and supported in studying subjects from a very broad and diverse selection.

Our school continues to be the largest in Redlands and can attribute its popularity to the richness of school life here. As a member of the Queensland Minerals and Energy Academy, we are able to offer students special opportunities to explore careers in the resources sector. Through partnerships with other learning providers such as Griffith University, Southbank Institute of Technology and the Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE students are able to commence Degree and Diploma courses and complete Certificate courses whilst at school. We also offer school based traineeships and apprenticeships.

Apart from the academic program, the excellent sporting and cultural programs add to the richness of the educational experience. Students compete in a range of competitions in many sports, perform in music and drama, participate in student led extra-curricular activities and have the opportunity to travel to Italy, Germany or Japan every alternate year.

You will find that the school is flexible and caring in assisting students to reach their potential, providing advice, support and individualising programs to meet the individual needs of students. A comprehensive welfare team is focused on ensuring that students are given the assistance they need to manage their studies as well as their out of school commitments and issues.

Our teachers and support staff are well qualified, experienced and committed to student success which can be seen in the outcomes of our graduating students. The vast majority of our students find themselves securely placed in the next phase of their career pathway when they leave our school.

The students at Alexandra Hills State High School are representative of multicultural Australia and so are very welcoming to all newcomers including those newly resident in Australia and our students who come as part of our International Students Program. On the whole, our students are friendly, energetic, enjoy school but are still committed to doing their best in all of their pursuits. They are very generous and have a proud record of support for fundraising for local, Australian and overseas causes.

Our website provides you with some insight into what makes Alexandra Hills State High School the right choice. Enjoy the journey.
