Dear Parents and Guardians

I am writing to you today to let you know about a very important piece of research that is currently being undertaken by the Department of Education, Training and Employment, which will help the Department guide its communication with parents, students and staff over the coming 18 months in readiness for the full introduction of Year 7 into all Queensland high schools.

The Department have commissioned TNS to undertake this research, and our school have been asked to be a part of it. It will involve speaking with a number of parents and students in Year 7, 8 and 9 at our school. The research needs to be completed before the end of term 3, which means we really need your support quickly!

TNS will be conducting one discussion group with parents and a separate discussion at the same time with students. This will be conducted at the same location, and parents can see their children (and vice versa) at any time if they have any concerns. TNS will be using moderators experienced in talking with both parents and students.

TNS will be asking about your experiences, with a particular focus on the right sort of information needed both by yourself and your children. It will not be focussed on curriculum matters. TNS are bound by privacy laws, and all information collected by them will not be attributed either to you or specifically to our school.

If you are interested in being a part of this research, can you please go to the following link, and register your interest. TNS will then be in touch with those selected to check availability. Discussion groups will be held between Monday 26th August and Wednesday 11th September.
