Redland City - STEM Competition

INNOVATE - Redland City STEM Competition is a fun, interactive and educational event showcasing the work of top STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) students. The competition aims to develop and encourage STEM-related skills of students in Years 5 to 8 through science investigations, video game development projects and robotics challenges. According to the Australian Government, in the next decade an estimated 75 per cent of jobs in the fastest-growing industries will need skills in STEM.

INNOVATE - Redland City STEM Competition is proudly coordinated and hosted by Alexandra Hills SHS and in partnership with Redland City Council (major sponsor). This full-day event is open to all schools in Redland City and coincides with National Science Week.

The inaugural INNOVATE - Redland City STEM Competition in 2017 was a huge success! Students from 11 primary and secondary schools competed, with 5 different schools winning a competition category. In addition to the competition events, students participated in engineering challenges, and viewed a show of exciting science experiments (see photos below). Winning schools received robotics or electronics resources, provided by Redland City Council. All participants received event bags containing items generously donated by the other event sponsors.
