Health and Physical Education


Health and Physical Education provides a foundation for developing active and informed members of society, capable of managing the interactions between themselves and their social, cultural and physical environments in the pursuit of good health.

Students explore the dynamic, interrelated and interdependent dimensions of health through participation in theory and physical activities. It is through these experiences that they develop the knowledge, skills, processes and dispositions to actively engage in physical activity and promote health and wellbeing. Additionally the development of personal skills within a social setting can be enhanced by participation in an appropriately designed Health and Physical Education Program.

Sports Excellence Classes(Invitational only)

The Sports Excellence Class aims to challenge and extend talented athletes across the broad range of sporting areas in Year 8 - 10. The sports Excellence Program has an emphases on commitment to improving performance and increasing sporting skills in many sporting fields while linking these elements to the theoretical knowledge needed by an athlete to succeed.

Rugby League Development Program  (Invitational only)

Our school offers Year 8,9 and 10 students the opportunity to participate in the Rugby League Development Program. This program has been designed to advance skills, improve fitness and a students' knowledge of the game of Rugby League. Continued partnerships with the Wynnum Manly Seagulls and the Brisbane Broncos allow participating students to be provided with current and relevant information to support their future playing goals.

Health Education

The course aims to develop socially aware individuals capable of promoting health for themselves, their families and the wider community through processes of taking care, getting care and giving care.

Physical Education

Physical Education program is structured so that students are provided with the opportunity to learn in, about and through physical activity. The written/oral learning experiences are done in conjunction with the physical activity so that learning in physical activity forms the core and the focus of student learning about physical activity and through physical activity.

Certificate III / IV in Fitness

Certificate III in Fitness aims to foster relationships with industry professionals and organizations to develop a curriculum focused on providing strong industry pathways and opportunities for students.  Students will work in partnership with Onfit Training College (a RTO) to fulfil the Certificate requirements. 

The  Certificate IV in Fitness compliment and further your knowledge and skills gained from the Certificate III  and can only be commenced after successful completion of the Certificate III course.  Students will gain National registration and have a qualification recognized throughout Australia.
