Industrial Technology and Design

Graphics

Graphics aims to develop students' knowledge and understanding of graphical communication, the use of mathematical concepts in graphics (eg space and measurement) and the use of technology to present graphical information.  Senior Graphics is a two year course that develops skills in interpreting, generating and creating graphical communication.  Students experience a journey from planning to production in simulated global contexts.

Industrial Technology and Design

In ITD, students will be taught skills and knowledge that they will then apply to different design applications throughout the course. Students will work with a wide variety of materials that include timber and wood products, ferrous and non-ferrous metals and thermoplastics like acrylic and PVC.

Manual Arts

The content of the units of this stream will allow students to develop hand and machine skills and an awareness of associated theory in the production of timber, plastics and metal artefacts. Manual Arts will introduce you to many useful new skills in design, graphical communication and working with a variety of materials – wood, metal and plastics. These will be incorporated into a range of small, fun projects which you will be able to take home when finished.

Engineering

This course is designed to assist students to understand the concepts and principles of engineering in its broadest sense. The course draws upon the fundamental principles of science, mathematics and technology, reinforcing conceptual ideas through practical workshop and laboratory activities.

Technology Studies

Students build the skills of project management, enabling them to manage resources and risks effectively to develop solutions to design problems. Students critique and evaluate ideas and products against design criteria developed in response to the design problem and they justify decisions and make recommendations.

Automotive- Certificate II

Automotive Certificate II is for those students who are committed to attaining a VET qualification and could be also considering a traineeship to pursue before leaving school. This course is much more demanding in both class performance and assessment than the Manufacturing SAS (Automotive) course.   This course is a two year course and is delivered by Alexandra Hills State High School.

Automotive - Manufacturing SAS

This course will give students a good sampling of what is involved in the Automotive Industry. It includes studies in the following areas; Industry orientation, Servicing, Maintenance and Service, and Systems.

Information Technology

Information Technology Systems

Information Technology Systems is a course of study that focuses on the knowledge, skills, processes and understandings of the systems that support Information Technology. These Information Technology systems include those that support the development of information (documents or websites), and those that support technology (computers or networks).  Areas of study can include; Computer support, Game design and development, Multimedia, Networking, Office applications software and Web design and development

Information Processing and Technology

Information Processing & Technology is a programming course of study that provides students with knowledge, skills, processes and understanding of information technology. It emphasises problem identification and solution rather than the use of specific applications, and is an intellectual discipline that involves a study of information and intelligent systems, software and system engineering, human–computer interaction, and the social and ethical issues associated with the use of information technology. Languages Studied include VB, PHP, SQ1, JAVA and HTML.
