Karen Harris - Homestay Co-ordinator

The Alexandra Hills State High School International Student Program has been providing a high quality Homestay service to long and short term International Students since 2005.

During this time amazing families from the local community have shared their homes with students from China, Germany, Vietnam, Taiwan, Italy, France, Brazil, Norway, Switzerland, Denmark, Finland, Slovakia, Spain Korea and Japan and have gained an enriching cultural experience. Many International students have formed such a close bond with their hosts that they continue to maintain contact with them long after they have returned home.

Our students are accommodated in homes that are in close proximity to the school. Visiting students are given the opportunity to experience the real-life Australian lifestyle. Homestay gives visiting students the best opportunity to practice their English skills while in a safe and supportive environment.

The Alexandra Hills State High School Homestay Coordinator works closely with Host Families and students ensuring that the experience is safe, comfortable, enriching and rewarding for all involved. All International Students in the Homestay Program must abide by a strict code of conduct as well as respecting the values and household rules of their host. Families must also abide a strict code of conduct

Throughout the year our school hosts study tours where schools from overseas visit anywhere from two days to two weeks and take part in a cultural exchange.

If you would like more information about the International Student Program or are interested in becoming a Host Family, further infomation can be found on the EQI Homestay provider webpage.
